Behaviour Support Training for International Schools

Bangkok | British Council | 25–26 May

PRICE Training (UK), in partnership with Safe Schools Thailand, are pleased to offer two one‑day professional development programmes specifically relevant to international school contexts. Both courses will be hosted by The British Council, Bangkok.

Designed to complement one another, these programmes may be attended individually or together. They support international schools in developing safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive approaches to behaviour, wellbeing and safeguarding.

Understanding and Responding to Behaviours that Challenge

Monday 25 May | Theory‑based programme

This course provides international school staff with a strong conceptual framework for understanding behaviour through a trauma‑informed and inclusive lens. The approach is grounded in Trauma‑Informed Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (TI‑PBIS) and aligns well with international safeguarding expectations and inclusive education standards.

The programme explores:

  • Why behaviours that challenge occur, including the impact of trauma, stress, attachment and unmet needs
  • Proactive, preventative strategies to support regulation and belonging
  • Practical de‑escalation and defusion approaches appropriate for diverse school communities

This course is particularly relevant for:

  • Teachers and teaching assistants
  • Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs)
  • SEN, inclusion, wellbeing and pastoral teams
  • Leadership and management staff

Cost: £140 per person
Early Bird: £120 per person (before 11 May)

Positive Handling (Physical Restraint) Training

Tuesday 26 May | Practical programme

This programme is designed for staff who may, as part of their role, need to manage high‑risk situations safely and ethically. It complements the theory day by developing practical skills in positive handling and physical restraint, aligned with international safeguarding and duty‑of‑care expectations.

The course is predominantly hands‑on, with short theory sessions addressing:

  • Values‑based decision making
  • Risk assessment and management
  • Legal and ethical considerations relevant to international school settings

Throughout the training, there is strict adherence to the principles of:

  • Last resort
  • Least restrictive intervention
  • Minimum force
  • Shortest possible duration

This programme can be taken as a stand‑alone course, though schools are strongly encouraged to pair it with the theory course on 25 May to ensure a shared framework.

Cost: £140 per person
Early Bird: £120 per person (before 11 May)
