We are delighted to share the news that FOBISIA Member School, The International School @ ParkCity Kuala Lumpur (ISP) has been awarded the EAL Quality Mark Gold Level Award from the UK-based EAL Academy, becoming the first international school in the world to achieve the award. EAL is an acronym for English as an Additional Language and we are proud to be an international school that is able to provide high quality support for those students at ISP who have EAL needs, in addition to our other rigorous programmes in place that provide challenge and support for all students.

The award recognises the school’s commitment to enabling all of our young learners to realise their full potential as we continually strive to provide an outstanding education for all ISP students. The award celebrates the work of our English as an Additional Language (EAL) team, working within the learning support department, and teachers across the school, to support our small number of learners who are learning English as an Additional Language. The award examined practice in three areas:

• leadership and management
• teaching, learning and assessment
• working with our parents and the local community

ISP was congratulated for its work in all these areas and for the professionalism of the EAL team and our teachers in meeting the needs of our EAL students. ISP was also commended for its vision and plans for the continued development of EAL as the school develops and grows. We hope that all students and parents also take great pride in this award.
