FOBISIA Representative Basketball - Teams in action!

FOBISIA Representative Basketball - 22nd & 23rd of March

Zelie Zshornack - Basketball Coach for FOBISIA Girls Team & BSM Basketball Coordinator, British School Manila

The first ever FOBISIA Basketball Representative teams gathered on the 22nd and 23rd of March to play in a pair of exhibition games hosted at Bangkok International Preparatory & Secondary School.

The teams were represented by 18 students from Traill International School, Rugby School Thailand, Shrewsbury International School Bangkok Riverside, St. Andrew’s International School Bangkok, Shenzhen College of International Education, Bangkok Prep International School, British School Manila, and The Alice Smith School Kuala Lumpur. The boys team were led by coaches Andy Waraput (Bangkok Prep) and Paul Brecht (Taipei European School) while the girls were coached by Nate Chisholm (Rugby School Thailand) and Zelie Zshornack (British School Manila).

On Friday the teams met and took part in their first training together. Coaches came prepared with a variety of drills and plays to allow players to experience different coaching styles, showcase their skills, and build chemistry with their new teammates. Their training ended with a practice match against the Bangkok BISA (British International Schools Association) Select Team.

The following day teams gathered once again for a light training and review of plays before playing the Under 20 Academy Club of Bangkok University Teams. The girls game tipped off first and was a close match through 4 quarters between the two teams. The FOBISIA Girls Rep Team ultimately found their groove together and came out on top with a final score of 60 - 51! The boys game followed with another exciting game and dominant second half. The FOBISIA Boys Rep Team earned back to back wins over the weekend with a final score of 88 - 67.

The showcase of student talent on the basketball court amongst our FOBISIA Representative Team leaves much to look forward to for the future. There is most definitely great potential for the team to enter competitive international tournaments in the coming years and provide more opportunities for the students to play together! Thank you again to the students, parents, coaches, and organizers involved in creating the first FOBISIA Basketball Representative Team! We look forward to what is to come next year!
