With over 150 years’ experience at the heart of the swimming sector, Swim England have a wealth of skills, insight and knowledge across the organisation to support partners and aquatic businesses. The International Learn to Swim programme offers lesson providers the knowledge, resources and support to deliver a world class aquatic pathway from first splash to podium potential.
The four frameworks, which make up the Learn to Swim programme are built on a foundation of acquiring the Core Aquatic Skills, this foundation allows learners to develop confidence, movement skills, breath control and an understanding of water safety. As they go through their Learn to Swim journey their swimming ability will improve with time becoming proficient in various skills including floating, changing direction and learning the range of swimming strokes. Towards the end of the programme, learners will have the opportunity to experience further aquatic disciplines such as water polo, diving and artistic swimming.
Swim England’s international partners are key to the long-term success of embedding aquatics for all. Swim England’s goal is to collaborate with swimming providers globally to enhance the swimming pathway, innovate and share best practice. The key to this vision is to support the vital work that international schools and lesson providers do in teaching children how to swim. No matter the size of a swim school, type of delivery or section of the pathway being delivered, Swim England are positioned to provide support and governance.
