The Federation of British International Schools in Asia

Trying Rugby has 3 main areas of activity:

Development. Developing the sport of Rugby within China and the wider region. We run training programmes for juniors from both the expatriate and local communities in Shanghai. We are also certified by World Rugby (Rugby Union’s governing body) to train and certify rugby coaches.

Equipment & Facilities. We are the exclusive licensee in China for Rhino Rugby UK. This allows us to sell Rhino-branded product in China and Taiwan. Rhino is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of rugby equipment and apparel.  Aside from Rugby, Rhino designs and manufactures Netball and Football equipment and teamwear and well as general athletic apparel.

We are also licensed by Rhino to supply and install Rhino-Turf, Rhino’s proprietary artificial turf for playing surfaces. Rhino-Turf can be customised to permit multi-sports use – rugby, hockey and football.

Events. Trying Rugby organizes and manages playing and development events. These include tournaments such as the Sino International 10s; Get into Rugby conferences (sanctioned by Asia Rugby) and international playing tours sanctioned by the China Rugby Football Association.

Income derived from our Equipment, Facilities and Events activities help fund our Development activities. We are not a solely commercial enterprise. We are an organization that wants to and does ‘give back’ and a big motivation for us is introducing boys and girls to the joys of playing rugby in its many forms (Touch, 7s, 10s and 15-a-side versions of the game) and, as importantly, exposing them to the values of the game – Integrity, Passion, Solidarity, Discipline and Respect.
