What is the Ploenchit Fair?
The Ploenchit Fair is quite simply Bangkok’s Big Day Out. Arguably the biggest Fair in Asia, it has been part of the social scene in Thailand since the first Fair was held in The British Embassy in 1957.
Everybody comes to the Ploenchit Fair – the theme is a traditional British fairground and it is a day to meet all your friends, pick up some fabulous bargains, sample great international cuisine, exhaust the children with a variety of fun fair games and rides, or for the parents to just knock back some champagne, cold beer or even Pimms while enjoying great bands who perform throughout the afternoon on the main stage.
Bangkok Patana will be donating the proceeds raised from the FOBISIA entry to the charities that Ploenchit fair supports.
The BCTFN disburses funds to a wide range of projects. Since the year 2000 alone, the Fair has raised over 70 million baht which has benefited a diverse range of organisations. In recent years, priority has been given to self-help projects that benefit and enable a community to become self-sustaining. Assistance has also been given in the provision of basic necessities and equipment to improve healthcare, nutrition, education, agricultural projects and the disabled throughout Thailand. Donations are never made in cash. Once a project is approved, building plans, estimates and invoices etc will be met by the BCTFN and payment made directly to contractors and suppliers
Saturday Podium Training
Podium training will be available for MAG Level 3+ & WAG Level 5+ on Saturday from around 4pm onwards.
(We will send a separate Podium training booking form after the roster is complete.)
As the Ploenchit fair is only on Saturday, Teams competing on Sunday will have the option to come to podium training on the Saturday afternoon. We will provide a shuttle bus for podium training and will arrange the shuttle bus to arrive an hour earlier so overseas team that are competing on the Sunday can enjoy the fair before podium training starts.
A quick coaches briefing will take place after the first general warm-up of each day next to the administration table. A representative from each school is required to attend the briefing. Score cards, T-shirts and Ploenchit fair entry tickets will be handed out here. Any schools not attending the first day can pick up their ploenchit fair tickets when they arrive for podium training from the administration table.
Please send a team photo when ready to firstname.lastname@example.org
Food, drinks and snacks will be available to purchase throughout both days in the front of the sports hall. There will also be water fountains available. There will also be plenty of food vendors in the Ploenchit fair.
Buffet Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all the coaches and judges in the hospitality room on the second floor of the sports hall. Snacks will also be provided throughout the day on the administration table for the coaches and judges.

FOBISIA Gymnastics – Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th January 2019
Gymnastics FOBISIA 2019 had its largest participation to date with 19 school Gymnastic teams descending on Harrow Bangkok. Harrow was buzzing with noise and anticipation as we got started early on Saturday morning. The weekend flashed by in a blur of excitement as over 549 gymnasts (A FOBISIA Gymnastics record!) represented their schools with the enthusiasm, poise and skill we have become accustomed to at this event.
Harrow and BSM did a great job of organising, welcoming and hosting competitors in Australian MAG levels 1-7 and WAG levels 2-9. This is the first year that WAG level 9 athletes have competed showing the growth of the sport in our schools. This year we also welcomed several member schools to their first FOBISIA Gymnastics and we hope to see interest continue to increase across FOBISIA schools in the future.
A huge thank you to the staff at Harrow and British School Manila for hosting. We thank each and every one of you that attended this year and hope to see you next year.
